How AI Has Helped Me Grow During My Internship at Wyoming Hemp Company

By: Raquel Hild, PR & Marketing Intern
Wyoming Hemp Company | The Future of AI and Marketing

Starting my remote marketing internship at Wyoming Hemp Company made me feel excited, but also a little overwhelmed. There was so much to learn at once: the company, the products, the customers, the brand voice, and the day-to-day responsibilities. During my internship with Wyoming Hemp Company, I have had the chance to learn more about marketing, content creation, and the industrial hemp industry as a whole.

One tool that has helped me along the way is artificial intelligence, or AI. Before using AI in a professional setting, I mostly thought of it as a tool for quick answers or simple writing help. But throughout this internship, I have learned that AI can be much more when it is used thoughtfully. It has helped me brainstorm post ideas and create cool graphics promoting some of our products at Wyoming Hemp Company.

Learning How to Use AI as a Support Tool

One of the biggest things I have learned is that AI is not here to do the work for me. Instead, it works best as a support tool. It can help me get started when I am not sure how to begin, but I still have to bring my own ideas and voice to the final piece.

I have also noticed that I need to give AI very specific instructions so the content fits the companyโ€™s brand and matches what I want it to look like. For example, when I am working on a blog or social media post, I may need to provide product photos, brand colors, and clear details about the style I want. Otherwise, AI might make assumptions or produce something that does not fully align with Wyoming Hemp Companyโ€™s voice or brand.

AI has helped me with grammar and spell check when I am writing blogs. Writing professionally can be difficult, especially when I want the content to sound polished but still natural. A little help from AI makes my writing more accurate and helps me catch mistakes. At the same time, I have learned that the final content still needs a human touch. It needs to sound like me, reflect the Wyoming Hemp Company brand, and share information in an honest, helpful way.

How AI Helps Me With Writing

Writing is a big part of marketing and public relations. During my internship, I have worked on content that needs to be clear, informative, and engaging. AI has helped me become more comfortable with the writing process by giving me a place to start.

According to The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2023), generative AI can support various stages of the writing process. Sometimes the hardest part of writing is coming up with ideas or staring at a blank page. AI has helped me brainstorm and move past that by giving me ideas. From there, I can edit, add details, and make the writing more personal.

It has also helped me learn how to adjust tone. A blog post and social media captions all need to sound a little different. AI has helped me see how word choice and structure can change depending on the audience and platform.

Why AI Matters in Marketing

Marketing is always changing, and AI is becoming a bigger part of how businesses communicate. Generative AI is especially important in marketing because it can help create new content, including text, images, and videos (Cillo & Rubera, 2025). During my internship, I have learned that AI does not always give the perfect answer, and that is okay. In fact, reviewing and editing AI-generated content has helped me trust my own judgment more. I can tell when something sounds too generic, needs more personality, or does not fully match the companyโ€™s message.

For a company like Wyoming Hemp Company, communication is important because customers may still be learning about hemp products and their benefits. AI can help support educational content by making information easier to organize and explain.

However, good marketing is still about connection. Customers want to hear from real people. They want honest information, helpful explanations, and a brand they can trust. AI can support that process, but it cannot replace the personal connection that comes from human storytelling.

What This Internship Has Taught Me

My internship with Wyoming Hemp Company has taught me a lot about marketing, communication, and the importance of adapting to new tools. AI has helped me grow as a writer and as a young professional. It has shown me how technology can support creativity when it is used with care.

More importantly, this internship has helped me understand that learning is part of the process. I do not have to know everything right away. Tools like AI can help me improve my marketing and writing skills.

How AI Can Change Marketing in the Future

AI can change marketing by helping businesses create content faster and understand what customers want. It can help with blog ideas and coming up with engaging social media posts in different ways. More people are also shopping with AI, so it will be important for business, even small ones like ours, to show up in AI searches. AI will make marketing easier and more creative in some way and more complicated in others.ย

As AI continues to grow, I believe it will become an even more important tool in marketing and across almost all fields. Learning how to use it during my internship has given me skills that I can carry into future jobs, classes, and professional opportunities.

A HUGE THANK YOU to Wyoming Hemp Company and Wyoming's Department of Workforce Services for the opportunity to grow and learn with this internship experience!
