What Type of Bedding Fits Your Needs?

Now that you have decided you are interested in hemp bedding, there is one more question that stands in the way of purchasing your bedding.

That question is, “What size of bedding works best for me”? That’s a great question, let’s break down the differences.

No matter which fraction size you choose, our bedding is made from 100% hemp hurd grown on American farms and processed at our headquarters in Hawk Springs, Wyoming. Our bedding is 99% dust-free and certified by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) as a BioPreferred product.

So what is the difference between the fine and flake fraction size?

The fine fraction is approximately ¼” in size and is a versatile option for animals ranging from small household pets to larger livestock.  It is packaged in a 20 pound bag that is easy to store in the house or barn and transport when you’re heading to an livestock show or event.

The flake fraction is approximately ½” in size and is a great option for larger animals. It comes in a 33 pound bag that is easy to stack and store. We recommend the larger fraction size for livestock such as sheep, goats, swine, and cattle. The larger flakes provide excellent coverage in large pens and enclosures.

While we can recommend a fraction size based on the type and size of animal you have, it truly is a personal preference. Choosing between fine and flake ultimately comes down to what works best for your setup.
